About the pub

Tucked into the hills above Tinahely, The Dying Cow — known to generations as Tallon's — is about as traditional as an Irish pub gets. Run by the Dolan family for the best part of three centuries, this tiny country bar trades on folklore, open fires and the genuine article: no theme-pub gloss, just good pints, regular trad sessions and a welcome for walkers coming off the trail. Glamping pods out the back make it a destination in its own right.

Traditional music

The Dying Cow hosts regular traditional sessions with local musicians. Because dates move around, we don't publish a fixed weekly timetable — see the live schedule on the pub's own page: The Dying Cow on Facebook.

Staying over

There are glamping pods and camping pitches on site, booked directly through thedyingcow.ie. There is no third-party booking channel — book with the pub directly.

Food & drink

Wood-fired pizza is the kitchen's mainstay; otherwise this is a drinks-led traditional pub and a much-loved refreshment stop on the Wicklow Way.
